 Novice Ice Racers

Welcome to the most fun you can have with a car!

To get started you will need:

  • A valid BC Driver's License
  • A CACC Novice Ice Race Licence
  • The use of a car set up for ice racing that includes racing seat belts for the driver, a passenger seat with an approved seat belt and a roll cage.
  • A Snell 2000SA helmet. Note: M (motorcycle helmets) are not approved
  • Street Legal Classed Studded Tires (see rule book for the definition of street legal tires)

Next Step:

Attend a minimum of one full driver training classroom session held prior to the beginning of the season where you will learn amongst other topics - driver etiquette and flagging

You will be tested at the end of the classroom session

Your First Weekend:

  • You must pre-register prior to the first event
  • Saturday morning all novices will be put out on corners to assist, learn and observe
  • After the regular Saturday ice race program is complete, on track novice training will begin on a short course with instructors and various skill improvement exercises.
  • Sunday morning two Novice races begin the day

The Rest of the Season:

Novices will be expected to run the entire season as a "novice". At the end of the season all novices are eligilble for the "Rookie of The Year" Award. The winner of this award is the novice deemed most improved in performance and attitude as judged by the Novice Director and instructors.
After being judged capable you will be upgraded to a Senior Driver for the next season and may enter whatever other classes you wish.
