Accommodations

Most of the racers and volunteers stay at the Desert Inn which provides a discounted rate on race weekends. Please let them know you are participating in the Cars on Ice events. Book in advance as the Inn gets booked up quickly! List of local accommodations below:

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ice Racing safe?

Yes, Ice racing is safe form of motorsports that’s held in a controlled environment. The ice is tested frequently before the event and multiple times during the event to endure the safety of the participants and volunteers.

Can I use my street car?

Yes, because of the harsh conditions this event takes place in, we highly recommend bring cars with at least fully functional heater and defrost. A good rule of thumb is if you wouldnt drive it during the winter, you shouldnt bring it.

Your car needs to be in good mechanical condition with suitable winter tires for the condition. Please complete the tech inspection and pre trip checklist to see if your vehicle is suitable

Is it cold?

The weather fluctuates during the season from approximately 0 degrees to minus 20 degrees Celsius. Please check the weather forecast for Ashcroft, BC before packing to ensure you have adequate weather protection (snow jackets, pants and boots are highly encouraged).

Often the sun will come out during the weekend. Remember to bring sunscreen and sunglasses.

I’ve raced for years. Do I need any prior experience?

Ice-X – No. Experience is not required.

Ice Attack – Yes. Minimum of at least one Ice-x event or greater experience required.
